Department of Ophthalmology Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX

Purpose: To report an association of dendritiform keratopathy with the contact lens preservative polyquaternium-1.

Methods: Eight patients with dendritiform keratopathy were evaluated.

Results: No etiologic factors were identified other than an exposure to the contact lens solution preservative polyquaternium-1. Discontinuation of the solutions led to resolution of the keratopathy in all patients.

Conclusion: Polyquaternium-1 may be a cause of dendritiform keratopathy.
