Purpose:
To introduce a web site that provides current ophthalmic microbiology
information and serves the Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group
(OMIG).
Methods:
A web site was created using Adobe-Go Live! software in accordance
with guidelines provided by the University of Pittsburgh Medical
Center - Health System.
Results:
The web site can be accessed directly at http://visualeyes.upmc.edu/eyemicrobiologylab
or with a search engine (Yahoo, MSN, Google, etc) using the keywords
"eye microbiology" or "OMIG". The web site contains
sections describing cumulative bacterial antibiotic susceptibility
results, laboratory diagnostic testing, suggested antibiotic therapy,
and OMIG information including abstracts of the latest
meetings.
Conclusions:
The Charles T. Campbell Laboratory web site serves ophthalmic microbiology,
and the OMIG organization. Suggestions for additions to the web
site are welcome and participation by OMIG members will assure its
future success.
